Master Your Real Estate Business
22nd December 2020
If you want to be successful in business and in life, you have to master your business. Discover your why and learn how to create and design a business that you’re passionate about and one that you’re excited to go to every single day!
How do you master the planning of a business that you’re passionate about? How do you create something that you’re so excited about that you wake up every day ready to go and ready to make it happen, rather than waking up every day thinking “ugh, not another day. I’m just going to punch in, punch out. I’ve got another day of drudgery ahead of me.” Look, if that’s your life, that sucks and I want to help you create something that you love and that you want to wake up to.
DEFINE YOUR WHY
What’s your reasoning? Why are you doing this? Why do you want to create a business? What is it that you’re trying to achieve? What’s the big purpose behind it? If you can’t tell me why you’re doing it, you’re not going to know why you’re doing it. It’s not going to be something that inspires you and makes you come alive.
We’ve got to have a big vision. We’ve got to have a big reason we wake up every day saying “this is why I’m doing it.” Maybe it’s for your family. Maybe it’s because you’ve had somewhere deep down inside this big dream of owning a business one day and serving a lot of people or having a business that funds a lifestyle that you want. Maybe there’s a combination of lifestyle and vacation and family activities or things that you’d like to do.
I don’t know what it is for you. It’s different for everybody. But you’ve got to get clear on why you are doing this. What is it that is deep down inside of you that’s driving you and that’s motivating you? If that “why” isn’t something that inspires you and excites you, it’s not the right why. It’s not the right reason and you need to go back to the drawing board. You need to go back and sit down and think through, what would motivate me? What would make me come alive inside? And then make that your why.
IDENTIFY YOUR MISSION
What is it that you’re trying to achieve with this business? What is it that you’re trying to accomplish? Is it to serve a certain number of families? Is it to help people who are in a certain life situation? We have clients who work primarily with military families because to them, they came through the military. They know what it’s like to have to relocate all the time and they feel like they want to give back to that community. So much of who they want to help is that military family. Or maybe it’s single moms or maybe it’s families who are growing. Maybe it’s business owners.
Start to identify that with your business. Maybe what you want to do is you want to build a team of people and you want to really serve your team members in a way that changes their lives, not just the families that you are serving but the lives of the members of your team.
What is your mission? What is your goal? What is your drive in life with this business? You’ve got to define that as well.
What happens if I make that? What’s going to change? What’s going to be better? What’s going to be different? How am I going to be able to give more? How am I going to be able to save more? How’s that going to impact the vacations I want to take or the dreams I have for other areas of life?

SET GOALS
What are your income goals? How much money do you want this business to make and why is that number significant for you? There’s this interesting phenomenon that as soon as we make as much money as we need to survive, a lot of us shut down. We won’t make any more than that figure because we won’t push past it. We don’t have a reason we want to make more money. So if you want to make more than just the amount you need to survive, you’ve got to figure out what significance that number has for your life.
Maybe it’s to send the kids to college and be able to have them come out debt free. Or maybe it’s that you realize you’re getting close to that retirement age and you’ve got to start putting some money away if you want to actually be able to retire. So what does that money mean to you? What does that number mean to you?
Then ask yourself “how many transactions do I need to do to hit that? What is that going to look like? How busy am I going to be? How am I going to put the systems in place? The business in place?
So there you have it. The three things that you need to define if you want to create a business that you’re passionate about and excited about. What’s your why? What’s driving you at your core? What’s your mission of your business? What are you going to stand for as a business? What are your core values? And then ultimately, what is that number that you’re going for? Where are you trying to get to and why is that number specifically significant to your life, to your vision, for your family, for your business, for your retirement, for whatever it is, why is that number important?
